Open Mic Night with the Poetry Co-op
Want to try out some poetry and embrace your feelings? Join the poetry open mic night this Monday and every Monday at Water Witch. Turtle Tuesdays at the Aquarium
Every Tuesday throughout June and July, visitors to the UGA Aquarium will have special opportunities to see ambassador turtles up close during feeding, sunning, or soaking sessions! Get a special look at animal husbandry in action as diamondback terrapins, box turtles, spotted turtles, and more enjoy their essential care routines. Don’t miss these unique moments to observe and learn about these incredible reptiles! All ages are welcome, but children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Lunch and Learn: Financial Freedom: Building Wealth Beyond Juneteenth
The 3rd Annual Savannah Juneteenth Fine Arts Festival, presented by The Eichholz Law Firm and hosted by Chosen For The Arts, kicked off on May 31 with the Dreams Fulfilled Scholarship Gala and will continue through June 21, 2025. This monthlong celebration honors the rich history of Juneteenth and the legacy of freedom and resilience in the African American community. The festival will feature a variety of exciting events throughout June. This event features a talk by Karen Birdsong, and complimentary lunch to the first 20 participants. Midtown Farmers Market
Come check out the new midweek farmer’s market behind Sixby and Lone Wolf Lounge. Vendors include farmers with local fruits and veggies, local honey, local meats and seafood and more. Farmer run, locally-grown, built for neighbors. Free. Food prices vary. 3-7 p.m. 222 E. 41st St.
Yoga in the Park
Yoga in the park, due to warmer temperatures. Get your stretch on with free yoga in the park this and every Wednesday with instructor Danette “Dani B.” Bauer. Each class is sixty minutes, and open to all skill levels, with breathwork, inclusive language, physical modifications. Bring a mat, water, make a new friend. Celebrating Savannah’s African American & Gullah Geechee Literary Legacies
Historic Savannah Foundation (HSF)'s Lecture Series continues with writer and retired Savannah State University Professor Patricia West. In honor of Juneteenth, West will take attendees on a literary tour through Savannah’s portion of the Gullah Geechee Corridor. She will discuss Black authors who have called Savannah home, outsiders who made surprising connections to its people and writers who later established themselves in the broader realm of African American and American literary traditions. She will also showcase her Gullah Geechee heritage through a sampling of original poetry that captures the history of Savannah. $15 per person for non-HSF members and Free for HSF members. Culmination and celebration of the month long Juneteenth festival. The 3rd Annual Savannah Juneteenth Fine Arts Festival honors the rich history of Juneteenth and the legacy of freedom and resilience in the African American community. Attendees will enjoy food trucks, vendors, live bands and local artists, offering something for everyone to enjoy. The festival is a vibrant celebration of freedom and culture, with a focus on community engagement and local artistry. Free. 4 p.m. Forsyth Park.
