Artist Talk with Emily Harrold
Join ARTS Southeast and documentary maker Emily Harrold as she talks about her process with her residency. During her Residency, Harrold has worked on footage review, story arc development, and editing for SISTER SENATORS, a feature documentary film meant to celebrate bipartisanship and uplift the perspectives of Southern women. Feedback and community engagement will be a significant part of her process. The film is set to release in late 2026 or early 2027 with a far-reaching community screening tour to follow, with a focus on using the documentary to inspire gender equity and parity in government. “I Carry Your Heart With Me” Play Opening
Join the Savannah Rep Theatre for the opening of play “I Carry Your Heart With Me”. Esther, a stenographer inside a top-secret Vietnam-era debriefing room, has a picture perfect world until she encounters an airman whose story quite literally changes her life. As she captures the stories of soldiers freshly back from the front lines, Esther finds herself smack dab in the middle of a troubling investigation. With plenty of twists and turns along the way, this tour-de-force starring renowned Atlanta actor Carolyn Cook is a taut, suspenseful mystery that packs a real emotional wallop. Never Mind the Happy: In Conversation with Marc Shaiman and Leslie Odom, Jr.
SCAD and the Trustees Theater welcome legendary composer and lyricist Marc Shaiman (Hairspray, Mary Poppins Returns, Smash) to the stage for an intimate conversation about his life, career, and memoir "Never Mind the Happy – Showbiz Stories from a Sore Winner." Joining him is Tony and Grammy Award-winning performer Leslie Odom, Jr., star of Smash and collaborator, as the two reflect on Shaiman's work across Broadway and film, his creative process, and the experiences that shaped his artistry. Expect a candid, hilarious, and deeply human discussion that pays tribute to the power of music, the pull of the spotlight, and the beat that never stops. SCAD deFINE ART Professional Practices Panel: Working in An Artist Studio
At this year’s SCAD deFINE ART professional practices panel, hear from SCAD graduates excelling in the dynamic, high-level studio environments of today’s most influential artists. This conversation offers invaluable insight into the practical and professional skills required to succeed in a studio environment, such as archiving, budgeting, project coordination, and day-to-day studio operations. “The Glass Menagerie” by Tennessee Williams Opens
Produced by the New Oak Theatre, Tennessee Williams’s “The Glass Menagerie” is a celebrated autobiographical memory play, blending tenderness, charm, and heartbreak into a moving portrait of a troubled American family. At its center is Amanda Wingfield, a determined yet delusional mother clinging to the illusions of a more glamorous past, while her children, Tom and Laura, struggle to navigate the pressures of reality. Through lyrical language, delicate symbolism, and unforgettable characters, Williams explores themes of memory, longing, and the fragility of human dreams. This timeless classic remains a profoundly moving and beautifully written study of family, hope, and disappointment. Show runs through March 1. Free Concert featuring Improvement Movement with Jalen Reyes
Enjoy a free concert on the riverfront! Dog Days and Savannah Stopover Music Festival are teaming up for the first monthly concert at The Park at Eastern Wharf. Improvement Movement — a band renowned for their live shows — has spent the last year playing a steady stream of dates including Shaky Knees and Willie Nelson's Luck Reunion as well as opening runs with Khruangbin, Royel Otis, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and are hitting the road with Iron & Wine later this spring. Art Opening: Paper Dolls by Jamie and Lino Azevedo
“Paper Dolls” is the first show of 2027 at Location under the “Art Family Values” campaign, by husband-and-wife artists Jamie and Lino Azevedo. “Paper Dolls” explores the suspension of time and space to collect the wisdom of not only the women in our family tree, but women of the world. Jamie’s photographs display ethereal female forms in motion. Lino’s mixed media on panel show a deft illustrative hand. Both convey an urging about how to benefit the next generation by the ones before us. Gallery profits from run of show are donated to CURE Childhood Cancer Savannah. “Process to Print:” Artist Talk and Book Signing
The Massie Heritage Center, in collaboration with the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) Southern Breeze Region, is hosting “Process to Print,” a dynamic pop-up exhibition in celebration of Black History Month 2026. This special exhibition highlights the creativity, process, and storytelling of African American illustrators whose work continues to inspire readers and artists across generations. Each participating illustrator is featured on a banner showcasing their biography and step-by-step creative process—from concept sketch to published illustration. This exhibition is made possible by a sponsored grant from SCBWI Southern Breeze Region in partnership with the Massie Heritage Center. The three illustrators featured are R. Potable Gold: Savannah’s Madeira Tradition
Experience the unique and flavorful fortified wine and hear how it intertwines with the history of Savannah, as a port city and a center of hospitality. Mid and late 19th century Savannahians, Ward McAllister and William Neyle Habersham, will be linked to Madeira and Madeira parties. The program is a 75-minute experience that provides an overview of what Madeira wine is and its connection with Savannah. Participants should be able to stand as well as walk up and down stairs.
