Train rides in March 2026 are Wednesday, March 18th through Sunday, March 22nd; Wednesday, March 25th through Sunday, March 29th. Train ride tickets are on a first come, first served basis. Behind-The-Scenes Aquarium Tours 

Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at the UGA Aquarium? You’re in luck! Spend the afternoon exploring our exhibits before learning what it’s like to care for our ambassador animals during tours led by aquarium staff. Participants will gain access to areas not typically open to the public. Animal feeding might also be part of the tour. Registration is required (unless child is 2 or under) and includes admission to the UGA Aquarium. All ages are welcome, but children under 18 must be accompanied by a registered adult. Strollers are not permitted in the back of the aquarium but can be stored in the lobby during the program. $15. 3-4:00 p.m. UGA Marine Education Center and Aquarium, 30 Ocean Science Dr. 

Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! 

Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me! is National Public Radio’s Peabody Award-winning comedy news quiz show. Host Peter Sagal leads a rotating panel of comedians, writers, listener contestants, and celebrity guests through a rollicking review of the week's news. Contestants vie for the most coveted prize in all of public radio: a custom-recorded greeting by any of our cast members for their voicemail. Every week, Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me! records in front of a live audience, then carefully edits out all the raunchy, inappropriate, shocking, and hilarious stuff so we can broadcast something that doesn’t get NPR in trouble? well, more trouble. Art & Oysters 2026 

Join Coastal Heritage Society for its annual Art & Oysters fundraiser! Art & Oysters brings together some of the region’s most talented artists and highlights the historical culture of the Gullah-Geechee community of coastal Georgia. The event features a silent auction to showcase the original artwork of the artists’ own stories of life on the coast and the deep-rooted traditions of the Lowcountry. Attendees of Art & Oysters will also enjoy a classic oyster roast, authentic local cuisine and an open bar. Thomas Edison Film Festival 

The Thomas Edison Film Festival returns to Trustees Theater with a mesmerizing collection of short films for its 45th anniversary edition. Formerly known as the Black Maria Film Festival, this event has advanced the unique creativity and power of the short-film format by promoting innovation and advocating for independent filmmakers through a juried international competition that celebrates all genres and hybrids from filmmakers around the world. This year, viewers will enjoy a specially curated selection of winning and bold contemporary works including three films from SCAD students and alumni, who will also join for virtual filmmaker Q&A. Comedy Lounge with Stand Up Comedy at Lone Wolf Lounge

A Taste of Embroidery 

Hand embroidery is such a rich and exciting fiber arts skill to learn and can be traced back to antiquity and cultures all over the world. Embroidery transforms plain fabric into textured art using needle and thread. In this class, we will build on basic stitches and learn additional stitches and techniques. Beginners are welcome. Please bring your embroidery hoops, embroidery needles, and a small pair of scissors. Fabric and embroidery thread will be provided. A limited number of embroidery hoops will be for sale in case you don’t have one. Flannery O’Connor’s 101st Birthday Party 

The Flannery O’Connor Childhood Home, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving the legacy of one of the South’s greatest writers, will host Flannery O’Connor’s 101st Birthday Party in Lafayette Square. This annual event is hosted in conjunction with Savannah Local Author Day, sponsored by The Book Lady Bookstore. Participants will be able to compete in a Flannery O’Connor look-alike contest, enjoy a performance by Legacy Irish Dance, hear live music by the Sweet Thunder Band, shop original art by Panhandle Slim and ‘20s-’60s attire from Vintage Vortex, create Flannery-inspired crafts with the Flannery O’Connor Childhood Home and Live Oak Public Library, play lawn games, participate in specialty raffles, and grab a slice of birthday cake in celebration of O’Connor’s 101st birthday. In addition, a portion of Lafayette Square will be dedicated to the annual Savannah Local Author Day, where local and regional poets, children’s book authors, and fiction and nonfiction writers will be on-hand.
