Historic Savannah Foundation to Host Panel Discussion About the Restoration of Savannah’s Iconic City Hall Building

Historic Savannah Foundation (HSF), which is currently celebrating its 70th anniversary, will host a panel discussion on “The Restoration of City Hall” as part of the 2025 Historic Savannah Foundation Lecture Series, “The People, Places and Stories That Define Savannah.” Featured panelists will include Rebecca Fenwick, Principal at Ethos Preservation; Raeb Moore, Superintendent at Garbutt Construction; Joe Smith, Founding Principal and Architect with Architectural Collaborative; and Luciana Spracher, Director of Municipal Archives for the City of Savannah. Free for HSF members, $15 for the public. 5:30 p.m. wine reception, with 6 p.m. panel discussion. HSF Headquarters, 321 E. York St. 

In honor of National Preservation Month in May, this esteemed panel of local experts will discuss how Savannah’s iconic City Hall building, located at 2 East Bay St., is currently being restored to its former glory and adapting to the needs of its citizens. The panelists will share the challenges of taking on a project of this scale while the building is occupied and reveal details about the new exhibition and public gathering spaces being added to City Hall.

“Moments of Normal” Opening Reception 

As the consummate commercial photographer of Savannah families for decades, Christine Hall is showing her personal artistic side in her new show Moments of Normal. The show is a selection of 19 photographs from her personal documentation of her very special daughter and her family from her Instagram, @momentsofnormal. The accompanying book, Moments of Normal includes these and additional photographs with writings of the moments in between living with a child with severe autism and appreciating the beautiful moments in between. Gallery profits from the run of the show are donated to esp of Savannah. Esp exists to create transformative experiences for people with disabilities and their families and envisions a world where every person, of every ability, in every community has universal access to transformative experiences. SLAM: Savannah Local Artist Market Returns! *new rained out date* 

SLAM is back! This local Savannah artist market features over 80 vendors, food trucks, live music, and fun for all. This date was rescheduled from May 10 due to rain. Free. 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Salvation Army, ball field, 3000 Bee Rd. 

5th Annual Motors for Moms Car Show & Wing Fest Fundraiser 

This fundraiser, family friend event is presented in partnership with The Eichholz Law Firm, to benefit Shelter from the Rain, a nonprofit that helps single moms obtain economic mobility. This year’s event will include cars, trucks, motorcycles, an awards ceremony, a DJ, food trucks, kids’ activities and, for the first time, a wing contest. All proceeds from this event will help provide for single parents and their children by contributing baby supplies, household items, mentorship, support groups, virtual tutoring for students as well as training in financial literacy, homeownership and workforce development. Event sponsor Exclusive Engravings will provide the awards for Best In Show, Best Classic Car, Best Motorcycle, Best Mustang, Best Corvette, Best Truck, Best Performance Vehicle, Best Jeep and Most Unique, along with other honorary awards. Deep Center Hosts Voices in Bloom: Spring Showcase 

Deep Center is inviting the entire community to join us for a Spring Showcase, an afternoon of storytelling, art, poetry, and jazz, as we celebrate youth from our Block by Block, Young Author Project and SLAM programs. Deep Center youth will be joined on stage by youth musicians from the Savannah Music Festival Jazz Academy to showcase their original poetry and compositions. The event is family-friendly, and open to the public. Deep Center’s mission is to empower Savannah’s young people to thrive as learners, community leaders, and agents of change. Through creative writing, cultural production, and art, Deep creates platforms for the city’s youth and the village of support around them, including their families and adult allies, to share stories, engage in debates, and make Savannah a more just and equitable place. Forsyth Farmers’ Market to Host 2025 Family Feast 

This family-friendly celebration, which is open to the public, will feature plenty of BBQ, sides, vegetarian and vegan options, desserts and beverages plus live entertainment and hands-on activities for kids of all ages. Formerly known as the Farm Picnic, the Family Feast serves as a delicious tribute to Savannah’s rich culinary history. Attendees are invited to pack a picnic blanket and lawn chairs to help support local farmers, restaurants, small businesses and the city’s vibrant local food scene. All proceeds from this annual springtime celebration of food, music and community will support Forsyth Farmers’ Market community outreach programs, events and youth education initiatives. Family Day at the Davenport House 

The second Family Day will take place during National Historic Preservation Month! Guests will explore the fascinating world of historic preservation in a family-friendly atmosphere featuring interactive activities and hands-on learning opportunities. Children can meet award-winning preservation experts and handle real tools and materials used in the field. Attendees of all ages will gain a deeper understanding of the important role preservation plays in maintaining Savannah’s charm and historical integrity. $5 for adults, free for children. 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Davenport House Museum, 324 E.
