Tybee Pirate Festival Kicks Off

Arrr matey! If a pirate’s life is the life for you, check out the Tybee Island Pirate Festival, kicking off with the Buccaneer Ball. Get ready to party like a pirate at the Buccaneer Ball 2025 where we'll be swashbuckling, dancing, and having a blast all night long! Don your finest pirate attire and join in the fun. This event promises to be a night to remember. The Buccaneer Ball is the first of a slew of festivities, including a carnival, and bands throughout the weekend. Impact Magazine Launch Party and Art Opening

Join ARTS Southeast for the launch party of their arts and culture magazine, Impact, in conjunction with the Opening Reception of Yoink, New Works by Chris Moss, curated and presented by ARTS Southeast. Free and open to the public with complimentary light bites and cocktails provided by Thompson Savannah, as well as a Silent Auction benefiting ARTS Southeast. Yogic Meditation

This group is hosted by Carmen and focuses on Yogic style meditation. All participants have the option of a chair or a mat and bolster to sit on, but feel free to bring a zafu/zabutan if you have one you like to use! All spiritual practice, across all religions, starts with some form of meditation! Meditation is simply the practice of stilling and focusing the mind on a single point to gain insight, deeper awareness, and the ability to work with the subtle energetic world. Some
benefits of meditation: Anxiety and stress reduction, inner peace, heightened spiritual senses, improved manifestation, self-awareness and more easeful day-to-day living. Each session begins with a short talk on Yoga Philosophy, an explanation of the techniques, then have 10-20 minutes of practice together. The Day Iceland Stood Still Screening

Join the Cultural Arts Center for a screening of “The Day Iceland Stood Still” directed by Pamela Hogan. The film portrays 1975, Iceland: 90% of women just took the day off, and men scrambled to fulfill their duties, sometimes comically so. A gleeful, amazing tale of the feminist collective, "The Red Stockings", and their search for equality. Hindsight Film Festival is proud to present this film which premiered at HotDocs 2024 and is not yet available for wide release. Immediately following the film there will be an interview with the Director Pamela Hogan,
Icelandic Producer Hrafnhildur Gunnarsdóttir, and Amy Paige Condon, Editor at The Savannah Morning News. Before the feature presentation, we'll be showing the short student documentary “Armadillo Olympics”, with local filmmaker Bae Allen in attendance. $10, doors at 6 p.m., showing at 7 p.m. The Savannah Cultural Arts Center, 201 Montgomery St.

Contra Dance with the Folk Society

Contras, squares and waltzes. Want to get moving but find exercising too hard and too dull? Maybe you should go for a spin Contra dancing! It’s fun, it’s aerobic, and it’s filled with great people you should know. Every dance has live music, a caller to guide you through the moves, and a beginner workshop to teach you everything you need to know. If you can listen and walk, you can Contra dance.
