Artist Talk with Hannah Keats
Join ARTS Southeast for an artist talk with ON::VIEW residency artist Hannah Keats. During her residency, Keats has been building off her current research to create an immersive installation for viewers that fosters dialogue about humanity’s interactions with technology and the natural world. Through a combination of digital printing, collage, laser cutting, and painting, Keats constructs sculptural paintings that mimic the forms of coral and fungi to build immersive environments for viewers which system from her response to the natural world, and aim to create a sense of awe. These pieces will switch between small paintings and lenticular prints to larger spatial interventions that go from the wall to the floor, allowing the work to enmesh viewers in a space completely. By integrating the methods of world-building used in speculative fiction, Keats aims to construct immersive environments that allow viewers to explore the boundaries between artificial and organic systems.
